Juvenile kingfisher on the River Lea

They are still around nearly a month after fledging, although the sightings are not as frequent as a few weeks ago.

As well as the two males, this female was in the mix as well, perched up about 5 metres away. She was clearly not happy about the intruding male.

Stand off

There was lots of noise when I arrived at the River Lea this morning. A short while later I found these two male kingfishers in close proximity, sizing each other up.

Sleepy!

The male #kingfisher at the wetlands this afternoon sat on the same branch for over 2 hours, for much of the time appearing to sleep. Have never seen an adult kingfisher asleep in the middle of the day, not sure if it is a cause for concern.
