All this. Also his vicious white supremacist rhetoric fits perfectly with the interests of the Manhattan Institute's billionaire donors in demonizing "socialism" (i.e. the rudiments of a social safety net) so they can pay lower taxes and weaken workers' bargaining power. Racism feeding capitalism.

Going back to his red-baiting of Lewontin and Rose, to his flirtations with race and gender science from The Blank Slate era onwards, to his defense of billionaires in Enlightenment Now, Pinker's entire career has been one long effort to defend inequality and hierarchy against the left.

This is reminiscent of some of Murray Rothbard's hysterically authoritarian outbursts from the 1990s that Slobodian quotes in Crack Up Capitalism. In both cases, the claim is we need to suspend liberty to save civilization from alleged barbarism.

I never voted for Trump and I'm not an accelerationist. But I wonder if his election and re-election on some level expressed an imperial death drive. It's as if voters know this decadent empire deserves to collapse and that he and his gang of billionaire thieves will speed up that process.
