Even then, I’d still say there are very few Bugs shorts that are straight-up bad.
Even ones I’m personally not a fan of, like this one, are still decent. They just lack a little something.

For me, it's too unfocused. Instead of Bugs just fighting a knight, it then changes gears to a dragon and switches again at the last minute to the Merlin stuff. And then it's set up as taking place in a dream.
There are way too many ideas crammed into seven minutes, so the comedy isn't as punchy.

Welp, I'm satisfied.
(I'm impressed just how spot-on they got the look.)

'Seasoning' probably has Maltese's greatest script but I'd still rank it as the least-excellent of the three (not saying much, their quality is so equally strong that at one point it was actually my favourite).
'Fire' has better pacing while 'Seasoning' just takes the wordplay to the next level.

I was gonna do my usual October tradition of Fraidy Cat and The Missing Mouse but, other than that, I'm mostly holding off.
Though, I was thinking of rewatching the Metrocolor shorts, just to prepare myself for the advertised improvements in the new set.

Originally I wasn't even gonna pre-order but it beats waiting for eBay. It'll be a faster delivery, either way.
Sometimes I'll buy the cheaper option and it'll actually end up arriving several days earlier, so there's a small chance I could still get it on the 4th. Doubt it but it's a possibility.

I went for the longer delivery, so I'm hoping there aren't any day one issues (granted, the Archive is usually reliable, outside of The Eager Beaver's audio desync).
I never actually knew you could buy off of different Amazon domains with the same account, so this was a new experience for me lol.

Probably one of my favourite episodes. I’m already a sucker for gimmicky stuff but this kind of set-up is perfect for showing just how strong each character and their chemistry is.

Yeah, she really suffers from a lack of use. Her two shorts are really memorable, just for the shock value alone (maybe the most risque in the whole series) but she gets barely anything to do outside of them.

I mean, compared to SJ1 Lola, she does have an actual personality. She's not my favourite Animaniacs character but at least her two segments are pretty fun.
The fact she was so heavily censored, as well as her introductory episode premiering way after her debut, is kinda interesting too, I suppose.

From my "Day 1" buyer experience, it takes like 2-3 days to show up from release, so expect to grab this around December 5th.
As advice, don't grab the first listing you see. I did for the Collector's Vault and had to wait 2 weeks for it. A day later, listings appeared that only took 7 days.

Depends on its country of release, I suppose.
Anything US now is blocked on Amazon for importing but other countries seem fine, depending on the item.
It may be because it's the Archive so it's more "premium" but I'm not sure.

WB used to be really good with imports but since V3 of the Collector's Choice, I've had to wait for each release to come to eBay each time.
No biggie though. It'll takes a few days to crop up after release but, depending where you buy it from, it may actually be faster/cheaper than Amazon.

I think I bought mine the minute imports became available, so I have the first printings with the black line on the slipcover.

Genuinely a great set.
It just took the already great DVD from 15 years back and improved it by doing away with the double sided discs. And that’s really all it had to do (though, I would’ve preferred any widescreen stuff to actually be properly encoded this time).

'Golden Eggs' is an unusually screwball Disney short that shows how versatile Donald was as a leading man. Some great absurdist gags throughout.
The hysterically manic movements and zany expressions here are only strengthened by the strong musical timing.

I will say, while the art direction of those shorts are worse, they really do look great on that set.
I think it’s mostly the jump from the awful pan and scan DVDs to the proper aspect ratio in HD but I was really impressed.

Honestly, I'll happily pay extra for a little booklet. I don't think we've gotta one of those since V3 of the Platinum Collection.
It all goes into that premium/definitive feel which I'm all for.

I bought the Cinemascope set but, honestly, it was cheap enough to the point where I don't mind.
Is it annoying it's already redudant only seven months later? Sure. But its sales probably contributed to the decision to make this set and, if the Spike & Tyke shorts aren't ported, it's worth keeping.

The Archive are usually really good with their prices. It was like $25 for the Collector's Vault for 50 shorts ($.50 a short).
My guess is the T&J set will come up to about $50, $60 at most but, if it's truly the best these shorts will ever be on blu-ray, it'll be worth it.
looniesttunes.bsky.social
From the looks of the discs and an actual slipcover, I'd say they're really trying. The whole thing has a premium feel to it which a definitive collection should have.
It's a shame that V2 boxart will never see the light of day, as it really looked great, but the theme here isn't a bad trade-off.
looniesttunes.bsky.social
All I'm wondering is, as they're redoing it from the first short, are they rerestoring those V1&2 restorations from scratch, since I know people don't care for them much?
Frankly, I may be the Looney Tunes guy but this is the most excited I've ever been for a classic cartoon release.
looniesttunes.bsky.social
I really hope those "20 commentaries" include the unused GCV2 ones (same with the notes in the booklet).
Personally, I'm really excited for that bonus disc. When was the last time a WB cartoon release like this featured ANY bonuses, let alone a whole disc.
Guys... we're back.

If you’re not listening to Whistling Fool at max volume, blowing out every window in a ten mile radius, knocking down planes and shaking whole buildings to the ground, you’re not listening to Whistling Fool.
