Let's try this again. An aficionado of change and growth. Not for everyone.
I thought I'd braced myself, but I wasn't ready for the Gul Dukat jumpscare.

Artful Eurojank. Forces you to trawl through a beautiful world at a snail's pace until you love it. Character progression that feels genuinely earned.

Slapstick Gothic. You can really tell this was by the guy who would go on to do The Ring.

Still processing some things.
Many thanks to @kekecoyotl.bsky.social for capturing my feelings.

I don't think I would ever put that many bees in my mouth, not even for the big boys.

A Scooby plot where every member of the community will just throw hands with the monster leads to one of the more physically intimidating spooks in recent memory.

Okay, but specifically, Scarecrow is the straight-passing theatre kid, Tin Man is the closeted tradesman and the Lion is the out loud and proud bear. In many ways, he has the most courage of all.

Watched a crappy remaster of a terrific movie. They ditched the blue filters, so it looks like one soldier ran directly into a tree branch and impaled himself in broad daylight.

If this show took itself 10% more seriously it wouldn't be half as fun.

Monstrous, undeniable and shows little restraint. The alterations vary from the delightful to the unnessecary, leaving the desire for an epic gothic saga feeling stretched thin in places.

Epitome of cheap scares. I like gore as much as the next guy, but after a point it just kinda washes over you.

This is honestly one step away from kink scenarios I've written.

What was even up with that lightning druid though.

Give the void a lil' scritch.

The more realistic the Grid looks, the less interesting I find it. Jeff Bridges Dude-isms elevate a middling script.

Big kudos to the girl who finds a secret tape in the cellar of an abandoned mental hospital and waits to watch that shit back in her house.

John Carter of Motherboard. Infinitely style over substance, but that style is undeniable.

One of those satires that fits into a very specific time and place. Watching it feels like browsing TVTropes.

It's a best-of montage of WW2 media from the last three decades. Not complaining.

Marries so much of what I love about survival horror and general spookiness. Wish it was easier to juke attacks, like a proper Resi game.

I gotta know about this jank-ass looking thingaling and how it managed to kill at least one super.

Better character writing, which comes at the cost of fumbling a promising overall plotline. I don't think they know what they've got with Vigilante.

The necessity of fantasy pushes against the machinery of reality until the barriers break.
October 6, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Undeniable atmosphere and a delicious performance by Jonathan Pryce make up for an almost incomprehensible plot that focuses way more on vibes. Worth it to finally understand a Venture Bros. reference.

Flawless use of open space and empty rooms to create stifling oppression. Putting it next to Starship Troopers as an adaptation that exceeds the text by knowing what the author was *actually* writing about.
