Yes because we expected positive feedback to predict better outcomes than objective feedback based on previous findings

Although not reported in the paper, there was a significant difference across feedback conditions, such that students in the positive feedback condition earned higher final math course grades (M=81.08) than those who received their objective score only (M=78.37), t(593)=1.76, p=.039.

Positive (vs. objective) feedback —> higher math self-efficacy —> 0.51 percentage point increase in final math course grades

He was such a wonderful friend, colleague, and mentor to so many. He made such a huge impact in the field through his work, his humor, and love for others, he was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
