It's just a guess when trying to apply this to Tennessee. There is no "registering" for a particular party when registering to vote. A voter simply states which party's primary they wish to vote in when appearing to vote. Many states do ask for party affiliation.

This is a mixed district, in that Democrat-leaning Western Davidson County is connected with more Republican-heavy counties to its west (aka gerrymandering). It’s all a question of who shows up at the polls - the Trumpians or the “anyone but a Trump follower” voters.

The failure to vote is why so many voters were removed from the voter rolls recently. There is one thing Democrats should be focused on and that is to get people to actually vote.

I had no problem getting a Real ID a few years ago. I recently got a Passport with no issues, partly because of the talk about restricting women’s vote. Brought the documents the instructions said were needed. Made sure I had birth certificate and marriage certificate years ago.
