US corn–soybean farmers use far more nitrogen fertilizer than crops can absorb, wasting them money, polluting drinking water, and producing climate emissions comparable to as many as 14 million gasoline-powered cars a year. Read our new report to learn more:
Less Fertilizer, Better Outcomes
Every year, US farmers apply between 30 and 50 percent more synthetic nitrogen fertilizer than their crops can actually absorb, and the excess that runs off farm fields does harm to people, ecosystems, and the climate.
