In Cook County, judges don’t have opponents after they are elected. They just run for retention and are almost always retained

That is very doubtful. The judges who sit there are honorable and try to do the right thing. The question is whether they are provided the complete information by the hospitals. I’m more concerned as to why the GAL’s recommendation was not followed in the one case.
