The flowers are up high around 3 metres or so, hard to get a good close up. Still striking & beautiful from a distance. I grew this from a small cutting given to me. It flowered after I had it in the ground for 10 years. Have cut it back several times. Those columns keep growing.

My peruvian torch is about to bloom. I might see some open flowers tonight or tomorrow morning.

Tonight I can see the moon through the window. Earlier at sunset, the western sky was a beautiful purple pink.

My butterfly orchid is spiking out to the max reaching for the light. I have it near a window on an old treadle Singer I inherited from my uncle. He made many men's suits with that machine.

6.50pm. Storms this morning with cracking thunder & lightning, then a good down pour of rain. Water main up the road burst, had no running water since 9.30am, it won't be restored until 9pm. Saved by rainwater tanks & a ten litre carton of Mount Lofty spring water courtesy of SA Water.
