I'm an Irish dairy farmer who writes books about farming. Also doing a MA in History. Addicted to reading, tea and cake.
Excellent keynote by @caitbeaumont.bsky.social at #WHAI2025 I particularly enjoyed the use of photos in the presentation- made it very moving too

Having a great day at #whai2025 learning, laughing and making connections. A huge well done to the organisers and speakers. Feeling really inspired towards the end of the first day.

Lovely to have lunch out and a walk in the woods. I should be editing but it's Sunday evening so I'm reading by the fire and not feeling guilty!

I'm so excited that Ireland is having a publishing conference aimed at indie writers. If you're thinking of coming to this inspiring and informative conference, you can get a discount using Speaker25. I'll see you there in March (despite the calving!) #indieauthor

What book are you reading this Christmas Eve? I'll be following the Icelandic tradition of reading a book and sipping hot chocolate by the fire.

Two new little gift books this month - especially for those who just want a laugh (cos let's face it, sometimes in farming, if you didn't laugh, you'd cry). 100 Facts or 100 Tips with illustrations.
Available on my website to Irish addresses (with free postage till Xmas) & Amazon. bit.ly/4f8OSue

It's so easy to feel disorganised and unproductive because I didn't publish anything between 2018-2023 but having included all my books in a pic, I'm feeling proud of my accomplishments to date. Bring it on :) #indieauthor with one book trad published.

Lovely few days in Oslo visiting my daughter who is there on Erasmus for the year and she's loving it. Home now to last MA essay of the semester, pack up book orders (thank you), dry off cows etc

It's that time of year when hibernation sounds wonderful. If you can only hide away from the world for an hour, an afternoon, a day, then do it with a good book, a cup of tea and a blanket.
Which book?
Well, the clue is in the photo 😉

Kelly was warned to 'never date a farmer' when she left London for rural Ireland. Hugh (an accountant) is handsome, helpful and welcoming but it's neighbouring farmer Steve who helps her find the escaped goats, and rescues her stuck-in-mud wellies.

A fraction of my unread books but here's my two latest book hauls. I have read Donal Ryan's now. #booksky

I know some people are finding the continuous grey fog depressing but it's very WutheringHeightsesque on the farm plus I'm so glad the ground is dry and cows are still out.
