In 2024, approximately 1.3 vehicles were manufactured in Canada. Over 530,000 were Toyotas, over 420,000 were Hondas. Stellantis and GM combined? Just over 310,000 or so. None assembled by Ford.

There are definitely warnings sounding. But don't just listen to the loudest - American - ones. 2/2

Re Carney and cutting deals with the U.S.: Be wary of headlines positioning the entire Canadian auto industry as being represented by CVMA - Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association. Strong lobby, but they only represent Stellantis/GM/Ford. 1/2

I set up a GoFundMe (www.gofundme.com/f/sweet-pea-...) for the woman who has been here every night for three weeks with cameras/cages/supplies. A volunteer rescuer, pays for all her own gear. I forwarded her the first $580 and she transferred it immediately to a cat rescue operation. Amazing.

I'm devastated. Just pushed out more flyers.

I have a '20 N Line GT - stick! BF can get all his windsurf gear in it, including a board, and another board on the roof.

I blocked an asshole. My cat is still missing and I don't have the bandwidth to argue with uniformed - but very certain - morons.

I don't write for car companies. I guess I will stop writing now that an expert has weighed in.

Occupants of those larger vehicles have never been safer. Those around them have never been in more danger. Speed is the thing that contributes to the worst of the features: hood height, lack of visibility, weight and distracted drivers. Speed. Speed and distraction are huge issues. I'm done now.

and far heavier than previous ones. Sightlines are compromised by that. It's why they need so many cameras and sensors to compromise for what a driver can no longer physically see. Drivers are poorly trained, people are entitled and angry. In N.A., everybody is driving their living room /3

Here I go, arguing with someone on the internet. The current infrastructure was not created for modern vehicles, and definitely not for how many of them there now are. EVs are superheavy and breaking down roads sooner. Go look at the width of older parking spots. Modern vehicles are far larger /2

We think she's been pushed out of our neighbourhood now by an outdoor cat. Trail cams lost her three nights ago. I'm losing my mind.

I could link you to all the reasons those systems are still in development (I've tested them), and all the ways heavier, higher cars going faster are deadly (it's my job) but somehow, I think you've already made up your mind. Have a nice day.

Nope. Still looking hard. And they do look alike :)

Diplomatic prowess my god I haven't seen this much twisting outside a bag of Rolled Golds.

Fuck no. I'll get speared for saying it, but computer-generated music is like AI-generated writing.

Me: "This is that EDM crap, isn't it?"
BF: "Yeah."
Me: "This is music to murder by."
BF: "I don't think we should kill anyone."
Me: "No, I mean if you were a serial killer, this is the music that is playing in your head while you are doing the murdering."
BF:

If you're away and your teenage kids are home having a party (they are) call them and tell them to turn down the damned music. Thank you.

Anyone want to tag Canadian authors?
I'll start with two I know of off the top of my head:

A spokesperson for Indigo, the country's largest bookseller, said sales of Canadian-authored books are up 25 per cent year-over-year

Across our country & economy Canadians are putting their "elbows up".
Exports shifting away from the USA, retail sales shifting, Canadian content & authors are seeing increased sales/revenues, Canadian/non USA travel up & USA travel way down, ...

We saw Pea in our yard late last night. She bolted again, but at least we know she's close!
