Franklin visited work the other day so I escorted him out of the building and as I was doing so I told him how cute he was but how I didn't appreciate him getting me wet. Cue scandalized face of another teacher who heard me until I point out Franklin is the black cat that just went past the window.

Blueberry muffins and cranberry biscotti all made with base recipes from The Elements of Baking. This book really is wonderful, I haven't had a recipe or modification fail yet and before this book I hadn't had success making any of these things friendly!

As is traditional on the eve of a new year I look back at the layers of thread ends that describe the year. It's a bit lean, there's quite a layer of green at the bottom but there's still a wonderful rainbow and soon there will be an empty jar waiting for the rainbow next year brings.

Gluten free cinnamon sugar tossed brioche from The Element of Baking.
This cookbook (textbook) is amazing and I absolutely recommend if you have to regularly make your baking allergy free. I haven't used it to modify yet but I'm excited to in future!

Harvested my first 2 strawberries for the season today..... it's a minor miracle if you consider I killed 2/3 of the plants I started with.

BY ACCIDENT!

Also I did it 6 months exactly after we moved in.

Nothing to compare to but I tried a Loopy Whisk recipe today and it was worth the effort it took to find all the flours and things.

Some days it's the little things like trying to put your hair up with a cute clip to realise it's fucking right handed and that being a lefty you're never going to get it to work.

My cat likes to walk around the house meowing like a screaming baby at full volume yet her mouth is full of her favorite toy. This is fine.... until she drags said toy all the way down to the bedroom at 1am. Just waiting for the day she jumps on the bed with it at that time.

Time for a traditional post, looking back on the year through the colours I've used and the projects completed and those still in the works. This year is possibly the best rainbow yet as the oort jar shows. A rainbow of fantastic women and dinosaurs and our sweet boy Charlie amongst others.

That feeling when you (an adult) need to remind someone (also an adult) that if they want to make gingerbread people they can't just search gingerbread recipe because the last time they did that they almost made cake. Then the feeling of learning not everyone knows gingerbread is also a cake.....

That feeling when an older person looks at your Christmas groceries and tells you "Not to worry there's less pressure when you get to their age" and all you want to say back is "Not if I'm not popping out a couple of kids to take the cooking on for me."
