Capital demands that:
1. The government must strip away sensible rules which prevent businesses from attacking the public good.
2. The government must constrain *itself* with insanely restrictive pledges, such as Rachel Reeves's fiscal rules.
3. Protesters challenging capital must be locked up.

Cutting "red tape" (aka public protections), as Reeves is doing, does not save money. Instead, it transfers costs from the rich to the poor. Other people pay for financial recklessness, filthy rivers, air pollution, lax building standards and consumer rip-offs.

Yet children are still told to sit still and often for ridiculously long periods. It’s so sad seeing reception age children, who now are made to sit, look and listen for 45 mins + every morning for phonics.

At school, we were repeatedly instructed to "sit still", and this became embedded in our lives as a cardinal virtue. We now know that sitting still is highly damaging to our health. Perhaps it's time we told children to do the opposite.
