Private healthcare executives were invited onto Wes Streeting’s working groups to help draft Labour’s 10-Year Health Plan.

This is outrageous. A plan for the NHS should reflect the needs of patients and the public, not private sector interests.

A doctor holding a stethoscope with text reading “Who’s really shaping the future of the NHS? EveryDoctor reveals who was invited to the table. Swipe to find out.” The EveryDoctor logo appears in the corner. Text reads “The NHS 10-Year Plan should have been guided by those who know it best — frontline staff and patients. But private healthcare executives got a seat at the table.” Below are logos of InHealth, Spire (SV), United Healthcare, and Independent Healthcare Providers Network. A person in business attire grips a rope in a tug-of-war pose with text reading “Profit vs Patients. The plan includes partnerships with private firms, digital systems led by tech giants, and focus on cost-cutting, not care.” A quote from Dr Julia Patterson reads, “Why should the corporations which seek to profit from the NHS be allowed a seat at the table?” A background of the door to Number 10 Downing Street with text reading “Why It Matters. This could accelerate NHS privatisation with decisions being made behind closed doors.” A QR code and a red button labeled “Read more” appear below.

🩺 A thoughtful piece in The BMJ from a GP on the recent debate around online booking systems.

It’s important to remember the human side + doctors are doing their best in an overstretched system.

AI is being hailed as the future of healthcare — but speed isn’t the same as safety.

We explore whether the NHS’s rapid move toward AI could fix the system, or just create new risks for patients and staff.

PFI - you’ve probably heard the term, but what does it really mean for the NHS? 💷

We’ve broken down how PFI were sold as a clever way to fund hospitals… and why they ended up costing the public billions more than they should have.

Keep an eye out… our new research on PFIs is coming soon 👀
Image of handshake with "What is PFI? Private companies build and maintain public infrastructure (like hospitals), and the government repays them over decades" Image of Big Ben and "Why was it introduced: faster hospital builds, spread out public costs, shift financial risk to private sector. That was the theory..." Image that says "But here's the catch: High long-term repayment costs / Locked in decades-long contracts / Some hospitals pay more in interest than the hospital cost to build". Image of hospital bed and words " Who profits? Private investors and banks earn steady returns. Meanwhile... hospitals cut services to pay bills. Should hospitals serve patients... or profits?"

💙 NHS staff win a small but important victory!

Swipe to see why SubCos are a problem, how staff fought back + what still needs to happen to keep our NHS fully public.

The fight isn’t over: we need full reversal of outsourcing + strong protections for NHS staff.

🔗 lowdownnhs.info/comment/labo...
Image of Keir Starmer and "Subco plans pushed back: Labour has been forced to step back from its controversial push for NHS subsidairy companies (subcos)." Graphic of bulletpoints: "Why subcos were a problem: staff were moved out of the NHS often on worse contracts, some subcos proposals were motivated by tax advantages, not improvised services or patient care, risks creating a two-tier workforce." Image of megaphone and " Some trusts attempted to proceed without proper consutation. In places like Dorset and Newcastle, staff resisted and balloted for strikes! Public and union pressure made it clear: outsourcing is not acceptable." Image of doctor and "This signals a partial rollback of outsourcing policies and a win for staff and unions who resisted these moves. This is a step forward, but not the finish line. The fight to keep our NHS public and our staff safe continues."

Who’s really making the decisions that shape our NHS? 🤔

EveryDoctor looked into the backgrounds of NHS England’s board members and found worrying links with private healthcare and corporate interests...

🚨 Reminder: our research shows MPs are still taking donations from people + organisations linked to private healthcare.

These are the same MPs making decisions about our NHS. Does that sit right with you?!

League tables and naming hospitals the ‘worst’ may win headlines, but they don’t fix crumbling buildings, underpaid staff, or decades of under-investment.

👉 Putting hospitals under public pressure without proper support only shifts blame, not change.

Great news for NHS staff! After months of standing up for fair treatment across the country, it’s encouraging to see the government begin to listen on SubCo outsourcing issues.

The message has been loud and clear: we won’t go down without a fight.

There’s been a lot of noise about GPs “not wanting” online services. That’s not the full story.

The real issue? Safeguards promised by the government haven’t been put in place: leaving GPs worried about patient safety, system failures and overwhelming workloads.
