Political betting, occasional observations, interminable threads.
Yes, I would have been a touch sceptical prior to the locals with it being a wealthy shire county - but I think they have to be in pole position.

Although the main takeaway from this poll should be primary polls years out are useless. Harris virtually certain not to run. AOC deeply unlikely also. Maybe the only meaningful points are a reminder of AOC's recognition and base popularity and Buttigieg doing fairly well.

Exactly and, outside the USA, there is just paralyzed inertia. A decade of denial almost the entire commentariat about Trump being a straightforward Kremlin mouthpiece/asset has suddenly hit home. Are the clowns who govern us and the discourse even capable of acknowledgement, let alone action?
Right in front of our eyes, we’re seeing the destruction of the US, and the beginning of a dictatorship run by a career criminal & his enablers, drawn from the worst among us. Nobody seems to be taking effective action against this, while many calmly accept this fate like lambs led to the slaughter.

There are votes to be won by appealing to the populists but eventually you have to draw a line or you will be taken to a very dark place. My @newstatesman.com piece on why Elon Musk provides a cautionary tale for parties of the right. www.newstatesman.com/comment/2025...

Top thread. The only thing I’d add is that while there may be room in the public head for two big personalities, there isn’t room for two people at the top of Farage-world. That’s the problem all these people with ambitions will have to confront.

If you are of a nervous disposition, and your daughter is at her first rhythmic gymnastics competition, do not under any circumstances go to the pop-up shop and ask how much the sparkly leotards cost. I’m in the wrong business.

Yeah. I’ve also agreed to go on a school trip to the Natural History Museum on 17th, some maniac has organized a gymnastics competition for Sunday, it’s two different music concerts this week, plus Brownies having their Christmas stuff, a performance at both gymnastics and Russian school, Christmas

I post this well aware I may look a fool in a few hours. But the numbers really don't add up to me.

Interesting election in Romania - race dominated by concerns about cost of living and inflationary pressure, for a post that has largely symbolic power and mostly on foreign policy.

On the other place I denigrated the Labour Party for accepting policy recommendations - commitments even - form minor celebrities. But now that I have seen that Edwina Currie is encouraging us to learn the public policy lessons of

Well I’ve started up here as well as in the other place - nice to see so many political gamblers ahead of me, as usual.
