Yeah I also love that style, lots of retro-style FPS games do it well. I also really like the combination of low-poly models and pixel art textures. I do use the DS Pokémon games as a visual reference, but it's a little different to what I'm going for

That said, since I implemented the camera system I have learned of a few older games that have a very similar camera setup, namely Persona 2 and Breath of Fire IV.

Thank you, glad you like it! I came up with it initially as a way to let the player see more of the environment and so that I wouldn't have to worry about them going behind objects. Later I realised it could actually contribute to gameplay mechanics.
