I'm back after a week away at a cabin in the woods, 99% unplugged. I've read, I've worked on a very difficult puzzle, soaked in a jacuzzi, & sat in a porch swing staring at trees. I feel mentally well rested & I needed that no-computer self-care time so much. Are you tending to your self-care? How?

(10 of 10) Here's the takeaway I've finally wrapped my head around: Stop looking for someone to teach me what I'm supposed to learn for myself. As always, I must do the work. So...today I went back to the beginning. I wrote by hand as I channeled. This is what my guides said:

(9 of 10) In the last decade, I've learned how to use ProTools & with it I've composed 6 albums, scored a short film, & scored my books like movies. I've taught myself how to use DaVinci & InDesign. And I've learned how to channel, or rather...how /I/ channel.

(8 of 10) At 15 I picked up electric guitar. By 17 I was playing lead in a band & we were the house band for a local bar. I've taught myself sooo many things. There's a ton of self learning involved in being a author, and in being an artist. So much of both of those practices is FAFO.

(7 of 10) Not that I was great, but she had nothing more to offer. I was doing my own thing, inspired by the notes on the page, & not wedded to them, the order, tempo, or intended melody. I was hearing my own & riffing on what was written like guidelines. Again--I was not great. I was exploring.

(6 of 10) Here's my conclusion. Across my whole life, those experiences that inspired me to dig deeper often had someone who taught me just enough. Then I had to do the work. I took piano lessons when I was 8. Standard learning books for kids. At 14, my teacher said she couldn't teach me anymore.
