This is a crucial fight considering smartphones are the form factor the vast majority of people use, especially by time. You don't have to love smartphones to recognize the importance of independent software development on such a widely used platform.

Here's another nice website: https://burningtree.github.io/bsky-dominance/

I am happy that I don't need to waste my time anymore debunking the "decentralization" of Bluesky.

@ricci
How decentralized are the deployments of the Fediverse (Mastodon, etc.) and the Atmopshere (Bluesky, etc.)? I'm starting a project to track this!

Good thread: https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/115074631868019158

@Gargron was dogpiled by Bluesky shills but he's right about everything.

Imagine claiming that you're a decentralized network and then adding a geoblock because of some draconian "law" in some random country.
@jsit @bsky.app Technically, you're probably also breaking laws in Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea and so on. The question is, do you care? I'm not a lawyer, so I can't answer that for you specifically, but 10.000+ fediverse operators across the world get to make that decision for themselves.

Mitra v4.4.0 supports verification of RFC-9421 HTTP signatures. It is known to be compatible with @fedify, but I haven't tested it with Mastodon or Streams yet.
Outgoing requests are still signed according to the `draft-cavage`. I don't plan to implement double-knocking, but something like […]
