Although you may never see them, some people out there are wishing you well, hoping you're alright, even though they barely even know you. They may not even ever say so. But they're there.

This person had shown me nothing but kindness over the course of more than 20 years, and in the very end, I failed them. That will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I responded to them kindly some months later (I'm terribly slow). During that time... they had died of cancer. A few weeks after messaging me. They had known they were dying and were reaching out to people they knew. My reply came too late.
