The govt. shutdown that began on October 1 has resulted in a lapse in federal funding for SNAP. USDA said November SNAP benefits may not be available on time for both new and existing cases. SNAP benefits loaded to EBT cards before Oct 31, should still be accessible for use. www.lsnwj.org/news-media

Common scam: A letter pretends to be from a law firm representing an Estate, searching for someone with a similar name to the deceased as a beneficiary to split a hundred million dollars. If you get something like this, check it out with a helping person. #LegalAidMatters

Veterans beware of "claims predators" who illegally charge hefty fees to file a claim for VA disability benefits. Work with accredited Veteran Service Officers/ Organizations to file VA disability claims. Find accredited VSOs: www.nj.gov/military/vet....

We represented in foreclosure. Client couldn't participate due to disabling depression. The mortgage payments were so low that it was unlikely any affordable housing could replace it. We found a relative to be guardian ad litem, & won claim for ERMA $ to pay arrears. Now retired, cl can pay monthly
