2025 was a year of building stronger communities together. Our Justice Equity and Opportunity (JEO) teamed up with the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to host a statewide conference on higher education in prison. Together, we will transform the criminal legal system.

In 2025, Illinois remained the national champion for birth equity. We released the multi-agency Illinois Birth Equity Blueprint to ensure every mom has a safe pregnancy, delivery and support for their postpartum journey.

Today’s Dia de los Muertos 5K through Pilsen wasn’t just about honoring our ancestors. In a time of such fear and harmful attacks on our neighbors, it was a bold testament—8,000 runners strong—to the power of community and that we are still here!
