So long and thanks for all the fish...
It's been cloudy and rainy for what seems like ages now...but this afternoon there was a small patch of clear sky and I was able to shoot the Sun in H-alpha. Our Star is always awesome 🙂. #Astrophotography #Solar

New year, new scope with diffraction spikes (an f/4 Newton), new #astrophotography shot of IC434 the Horse Head nebula.

What's there @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

J'en avais pas besoin, mais je l'ai quand même acheté. (pour offrir).

Je vous présente le coupe-pizza NCC-1701 😍

Mince, j'étais parti sur les conques 😇.

The #Sun this morning was very cooperative, shot with my Lunt 60 H-alpha scope. The rendering is in false colors (H-alpha is a deep deep red). #Solar #astrophotography

A bit of #astrophotography drizzling, cropping, and sizzling on #M82 to show just how gorgeous those H-alpha jets are 😍.

Can you please plate-solve this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
November 23, 2025 at 11:44 AM
Marrying H-alpha and LRGB data while doing #astrophotography can reveal cool things in space like those reddish jets of matter coming out of the nucleus of M82 (a buddy of M81, one of our neighbor galaxies).

Where do you put this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
November 22, 2025 at 7:19 PM
Team work in #astrophotography 🔭📷 gives nice results. Here is M33, a neighboring galaxy combining images from 3 setups. I'm always amazed with its bright blue stars that can be resolved from several million light years away.

@kat-astro-bot.bsky.social where's this please?

The Star we know best, the closest one to us, the #Sun, shot around mid day in H-alpha with my little Lunt Solar scope. #solar #astrophotography

What's cool about #astrophotography 🔭📷 is that you can stack frames to create nice images, and also use those frames to do some aperture photometry (here with AIJ on the eclipsing binary V1337 CAS near IC1805 Heart Nebula AIJ). Ain't that cool people 🤓?
What do you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

Solar #astrophotography 🔭📷 does have its perks...like getting your images taken in 10 minutes between two rainy episodes.

This is the Sun as it was late this afternoon in France, shot with my Lunt 60 and my ASI1600GT mono camera and dodging quite a few clouds and rainy spells.

Dark dust clouds in Perseus with the #Embryo nebula NGC1333 in the bottom left corner. Shot this 7 days ago from my backyard. #astrophotgraphy 🔭📷 reveals what our eyes won't always see....but it's not because we don't see it that it's not there. Where do you put this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social?
October 23, 2025 at 8:18 PM
I tried my best to capture an L-RGB image of comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon using a monochrome cam. It's feasable, but it's not as nice and starightforward as with a color cam because Comets move fast!!!!! #astrophotography.
Where's this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
October 17, 2025 at 7:19 PM
Hi all #astronomy fans out there ✨! I managed to shoot the Cocoon Nebula (IC5146) and its trailing dust train over the past two nights, using my backyard #astrophotography setup. The weather Gods blessed me I guess 😇. Lots of Hydrogen in the background.
What's out there @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
October 17, 2025 at 11:48 AM
Ce n'est pas qu'une question de taille 😬, la veille à 342mm avec la petite lulu

Lemmon juice being squeezed out of the comet C/2025 A6 #astrophotography. Shot this evening but it's really low so it is tough to even think about getting this one done in RGB.
Can you try and solve this one @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
October 13, 2025 at 10:35 PM
The North America, Pelican and gulf of Mexico (yep, not the "gulf of America" 😇) nebulae to which I added SII subs last night from my backyard. SHO is an unusual #Astrophotography 🔭📷 palette but I do like it.
I'm pretty sure @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social will solve this one in a breeze.
October 13, 2025 at 8:13 PM
From my backyard : Summer is going away gracefully, and with it the North America Nebula NGC7000 in the Milky Way plane. I count around 69 000 stars in this #Astrophotography 🔭📷picture!
Can you guess where this is @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
October 12, 2025 at 3:03 PM
The Tadpoles in Auriga shot in narrow band SHO (Sulfur, Hydrogen, Oxygen) from my backyard during last night's #Astrophotography 🔭📷 session. Slightly psychedelic colors but I like those 🫠. The stars are RGB though. Am I spot on @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
October 5, 2025 at 5:11 PM
The bane of all #astrophotography 🔭 📷 amateurs is stars throwing a tantrum right next to tiny, delicate, nebulae...Navi is such a star, glowing from just beyond the top left corner of this image of the Ghost of Cassiopeia #IC63 I shot from my backyard 🙂. What do you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Bon, hum, les LLM ont encore quelques progrès à faire 😅

Alors voici, et maintenant je sais que j'ai convaincu JD de passer à une caméra Monochrome ☺️
September 21, 2025 at 3:42 PM
The young Pleiades in all their glory, which I managed to shoot two nights ago using my backyard #Astrophotography 🔭📷 setup. I made a bad attempt at fitting a 100My isochrone over my poorly calibrated data to show this...don't try this at home kids 😇.
@kat-astro-bot.bsky.social, what do you see?

He'll die someday, just like the characters in Barry Lyndon.
