Well done to Kate Gridley, who has recently published an incredibly important paper looking closely at the degrading effects of COVID-19 on the social environments of people living with dementia. The paper quotes participants from DETERMIND and PriDem studies. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....
What did you do after the bank holiday? We reunited our team to spend the day planning an application at the @empowerdementianet.bsky.social Sandpit Event. It was a real joy to meet others passionate about making a difference to the lives of those living with dementia and those who support them :)
ARUK South Coast Network meeting was a great opportunity to catch up with peers, meet others working in the field and present the exciting next stage of the @determindstudy.bsky.social study! Thanks for a great few days @alzheimersresearchuk.org!
Our lead, Professor Sube Banerjee, presented evidence based on findings from the DETERMIND study to the UK Covid Inquiry. He discussed the disproportionate impact the pandemic had on people with dementia and their caregivers, and recommendations for future pandemics. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjL-...
I feel very lucky to have attended the IFPE International Congress in Trento to share findings on those accessing mental healthcare services without a diagnosis. It was a really great opportunity to gain an understanding of global mental health epidemiology! Loved Trento a lot too :)
PhD student @isaac-dc.bsky.social had a great time in Toronto at their first @alzassociation.bsky.social international conference. They enjoyed learning about new community-based interventions and co-designed respite programs, as well as presenting their own research and lots of poutine! #AAIC25
The DETERMIND study measures key quality of life and care outcomes through yearly interviews with people living with dementia and those who look after them.
We're looking forward to sharing as much of the project as we can over the next few months :) Please follow along!
