Love gaming of both the board and video varieties. Also enjoy movies, anime (and other TV!), reading, soccer, and my silly dog Toro.

It definitely has sad parts, but it's a very hopeful game overall! I'd say the main themes of the game are hope and curiosity. I won't say I didn't cry, but I will say that I wasn't always crying due to sadness.

I care much more about whether the ending fits with what the game is trying to say.
Fantasy games should generally have a happy ending even if bittersweet. Horror games have more leeway.
Just make it make sense within the context of the story you're trying to tell. That's really all I ask.

I couldn't recommend it more! Definitely one to check out if you ever have some time in your hands.

Anime #35: Witch Watch
This series was a lot of fun! Packs in so many jokes per minute.
Not every sketch lands, but it's more hits than misses. I would've liked a bit more of the actual serious story content, but that's a minor complaint when the show is so consistently funny.

Yeah! I actually added Beastars to my watchlist since I'm enjoying Sanda so much. I'm not terribly familiar with it, tbh.

This is almost all streamers now though. Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Peacock are all ad-supported on their lower tiers.
It sucks, but unless you want to pay more, ads are just the norm now.

I was hoping to catch this on Monday, but with my dog sick, I won't be able to make it to the theatre for a couple weeks. I'll probably wait till it hits streaming in that case.
Glad you liked it though! I have loved his movies ever since I first saw The Lobster.

There would have been no shame in still doing so, haha. That said, Paranoia Agent is a great choice, even if I'll admit that I don't think I ever fully "got it".

Luckily, he's still allowed to do his favorite thing, sunbathing.

What are your thoughts on the Live Letter?

They need a new argument. You could literally plug and play "rock music", "novels", "comic books", "Dungeons & Dragons", "bicycles" or a million other moral panics in place of "video games" over the decades.
It's trite, worn out bullshit and nobody's buying it.

I've only played Phantasia. It's a franchise that's always been at the periphery of my gaming life, but that I've never really dug into.
I'd like to get into it more at some point, but it's always a case of too many games, too little time.

That third slot was a tough call and probably the most likely to change as the season evolves. I basically just picked the anime whose next episode I was looking most forward to for now.

3. Gnosia: The premise is basically a game of sci-fi Werewolf, but with a time loop thrown in for good measure.
The character design is wacky in the best way and the plot definitely keeps me guessing.
I've got some quibbles with the mechanics of the game, but they're pretty minor.
