A common buzzard is a large, sturdy bird of prey, often seen soaring high in wide circles or sitting hunched on telegraph poles and fence posts. It has a wingspan of over 1 meter, with broad, rounded wings that show light-coloured undersides and dark, finger-like tips. They are usually dark brown, with a pale "necklace".
