Hot Take! The holiday season is not the time to experiment with recipes. Do what you know well. Add more garlic if you like. Add some mustard to the gravy but new dishes will mess with the flow. #chroniccook

My beef cheek stew got beans, charred corn and spiced I cooked in so lard added to it. I've turned a one pot wonder into three family meals with less effort. I also didn't get sick of it (which can happen).

Thought I'd share a #chronicillness win. My kidney doctor called today (I couldn't attend irl cos of the stomach bug). 3% increase in my kidney function. That's 3-6 months longer being alive, so I'm really teary. #disability

With help I've managed to make beef cheek and mushroom stew again. It took 2-3 days, between dry rubbing the meat, and stewing in bone broth and onions yesterday for about 5hrs. Today I added more veg and a rue. #chroniccooking #chronicillness #disablitiy

One of the weird side effects of chronic illness is sometimes I don't feel real any more. I don't do things or go places. I used to dance, make music, sing, meet people. Now I need a rest from coming downstairs. #chronicillness

1) I meal prepped today and my back is now wreaked. I prepared a small eating pumpkin (which took ages) plopped it in the slow-cooker with ghee, ginger garlic paste, curry paste and garam masala. I then had a lie down on the living room floor.

The poetry book projects are going well. Where would be a good place to share them? Should I try and self publish again? How about a website?

@mharastarling.bsky.social I'm reading your book on Welsh Fairies and I hit a bit of a snag, in so much as I've worked with Lord Arawn for a few years and I'm a bit trepidatious of working with Gwyn ap Nudd. Would it be considered rude? I don't want to upset Them and all.

Pumpkin soup
1 eating pumpkin, de-seed and cut into quarters, 1 bulb of garlic with it's top cut off and some olive oil added. Roast on a medium low heat taking out the garlic if it is done before the pumpkin. Chop an onion finely. Grate a large carrot. Fry fresh sage leaves in butter.

Following a post saying they would be working with their ancestors everyday in October, I've been doing the same. Lots of positives so far, mostly candle and bone work.

I'm reading Davina MacCall's menopause book and I am relieved and angry. The NHS really needs to school GP's about menopause care. Period.
