Unboxing my new Apple Vision Pro and just a little bit excited! Time to explore some new possibilities for #ExtendedReality teaching, learning, assessment, therapy, and support. So many ideas, so little time #VirtualReality #AugmentedReality #DigitalHealth

Our 10-15min online, anonymous survey on clinicians’ (and their assistants) and teachers’ views on #GestaltLanguageProcessing is still open.

It will close later in Jan - a month will be up by 20th Jan then we leave it open until responses wind down.

Feel free to share it!

Adults with #Aphasia, we want to know what you think of #VirtualReality. It's appearing more in rehabilitation, but do you like it? Does it work for you? Try it out and let us know! Please share with anyone you know in the Sydney (Australia) area.
#Stroke #BskySPEECHIES
A flyer advertises that research opportunity.
The research is happening at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Adults woth aphasia can participate. They need to travel to the university. They will talk to the researchers on the phone first. Then they will try virtual reality. They will play 2 games and watch 2 videos. We will ask some questions. Contact Dr Lucy Bryant if you are interested or if you have questions. Lucy's email is Lucy.Bryant@uts.edu.au. Her phone number is 0295147189

Even though recast therapy is great for treating grammar in #DevLangDis, our lab takes a 'kitchen sink' approach when the focus is on something other than the intervention itself. There is growing evidence for explicit approaches. #SLPeeps Do you mix and match? How do you decide which to use when?
Two columns of text one wit a header that says implicit grammar treatments followed by the words enhanced input + attentive listening and teh other that says explicit grammar treatments followed by meta skills+rules + production practice. Then several treatment types are listed after each one with short definitions and references.

Yes. "Echolalia" is certainly something I haven't covered in enough detail in the past. But I've always included AAC as language expression in content and case examples. We learn about verbal, written, gestured (including signed) and tactile forms of language expression. All are language

Some importance here in emphasising phonology as the overlap between speech and language. I noted on clinic that the differences between phonological and articulatory difficulties are not always well understood
lucyebryant.bsky.social
Absolutely will strengthen this content. It is already covered, as it should be, but will be working hard to make these concepts more explicit. Open to other suggestions too from #BskySPEECHIES

2025 will bring some more critical analysis and evaluation of #GLP to inform teaching. My curriculum update is already in progress. Strengthening content on #language, acquisition, communication beyond language, differences between processing and understanding and expression, and more!

Welcome to Aus! A day earlier than you thought, but a sunny way to start 2025

The brainstorm is happening. Open to ideas and suggestions.

I'd like to create an #AR choose-your-own-adventure clinical scenario. Some simulation. The possibilities are endless with #AppleVisionPro

So exciting @lucyebryant.bsky.social and I can start on our autoethnography using #AR
- this time #AppleVisionPro

Reseatch participation opportunity for #TBI. We want to change the way communication and technology are assessed. How do you use tech? What #SLP services might help? See flyer for more. Please share with your networks. Contact for more information at [email protected]. #BskySPEECHIES
A research flyer advertising the research. It says the research has ethical approval. The research aims to develop an assessment for communication using technology including email, text, social media, online shopping, etc. People with TBI, their family and speech pathologists can participate. You must be over 18 years. You will participate in an interview and surveys, or just surveys if you prefer. Payment of up to $150 is given for participation.

Such interesting and valuable work. Do you think that Peters' 'gestalt language production' (she didn't mention processing) is more in line with earlier definitions formulaic language? Which still have shared, social, symbolic meaning

I finished on clinic with another group of wonderful #slp2b this week. They had such diverse experiences of inclusive, multilingual speech and language assessment. We're always looking to enhance our #InclusivePractice. What are your top tips for assessing #multilingual kids, ##BskySPEECHIES?

I'm looking forward to delving deeper into all those other #GLP #NLA sources that aren't treatment research. The books, editorials and tutorials. They weren't included in the sustenance review. They will be included in our meta- narrative review. Coming 2025
bronwynhemsley.bsky.social
We have submitted a Protocol for a Meta-Narrative Review of #GLP #NLA as a logical next step to a systematic review.

We often do two reviews - a systematic one for treatments, and another design to appreciate and analyse the policy, practice, or other literature (that is not treatment studies).
