Interested in environment, climate, just transitions, cycling, adaptation and resilience, Te Tiriti. Views are all my own, though I can't share many on NZ politics
Remember to vote in local government elections 🧡 I can't speak for the rest of the country but it was super easy to post me and the husband's papers in Auckland - convenient voting box at my local supermarket.

This article is still a bit confusing - to be clear, most teachers earn at most $103k. And their maximum pay scale step only passed $100k in December 2024.

Cheaper housing, better wages, more jobs, quality state funded ECE, more affordable food and power. It's all about the money.

Most teachers start off earning about $65,000 and max at $90 to $100k, depending on level of grad qualification. Only those who take on management units can earn a little more, in what is already a pretty gruelling job during term. The salaries are published here: www.ppta.org.nz/collective-a...

In waste, the hierarchy goes 'Rethink/redesign, reduce, reuse, recycle, recover.' In transport it could go 'Prevent' (design cities to be compact, walkable), 'Reduce demand' (WFH, congestion charging, tolls), Shift demand (to walking, cycling, bus, rail, shipping), Decarbonise (electrify)

This is a crazy decision from this judge. How does she think cyclists should ever pass through an intersection if they can't ride through on the left? Does she appreciate that 99%+ of roads have no markings for cyclists at all? www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/tauranga-...

Cool graphic from Rewiring Aotearoa on the potential for EV car batteries to be charged during low demand periods (primarily over nightl and then help feed the grid during peak demand.
