Hmm, it doesn’t explicitly say summer (versus winter) savory but since winter savory is a winter-growing Mediterranean herb, whatever they would have had here was summer savory.

It’s quite big in Quebec too, as a traditional stuffing herb. I know it among English speakers but it may be Quebecois too. The people who use it are of Irish descent — that would likely be true in Newfoundland also.
