Conference result days are always a mix of emotions, and we've all been in the position of receiving crazy scores or unsettling reviews.
That said, I was ✨ thrilled ✨ to find out that the contributions I submitted to #AoIR2025 have been accepted for presentation – and I can't wait to be in Niterói:

What is going on with all those apps promising to be a quick-fix to all sorts of mental health issues? 🧐Also, why are they all trying to be Duolingo? 😵‍💫

Returning to Leeds after a few fab days in Jönköping, where I presented my work on ViBeS as part of the Media Atmospheres International Symposium ✨
Amazing talks, cute venues, lovely sunset by the lake, and fika - a very atmospheric event indeed 🇸🇪

This Friday I’ll be in Amsterdam for the ✨VIBES✨ symposium, hosted by the Terminally Online collective at UvA (thanks to @idilg.bsky.social & @ddzeeuw.bsky.social)
It’s the first time I’m invited to be a keynote speaker (!), and the vibes will certainly be immaculate:

Also: can we perhaps stop asking for letters of recommendation???
ludludlud.bsky.social
Genuine question: how do people manage students’ requests for letters of recommendation?

I would be interested in hearing about the systems and strategies academics use to navigate the multiple requests from students without going crazy. Do you use forms? Spreadsheets? A really tidy email folder?

a new blog from me on the dramatic events with Bluesky, Mastodon, Meta and Pixelfed over the past ten days, and what they mean for the future of social media.

"The battle over the future of social media is now on. Organised resistance to the power of commercial social media platforms is starting, and it is clear Meta is worried about it."
