There’s merit to letting the designers use their tools to make the game, and edh just can’t be ignored as it’s one of the biggest formats ever.
But there’s also merit to letting the format just be what it is. It was made by the players and that deserves respect and care.

But all things considered, you are ultimately right. These rules, albeit clunky, do make commander what it is. Would the hybrid change make the format less like itself or more like it should’ve been from the beginning? I honestly don’t know, and I will shrug too whatever

show a lack of understanding of what is the right path to develop for commander.
But red and white did need the extra help. Strategies and themes did need that ad-hoc commander to truly shine (my fav example is Kadena morph as that’s what I play). Those precons did need to exist to truly spread (..)

I don’t think Commander would be a better format if left completely alone as some people have stated — for every Arcane Signet, there are tens, hundreds of bangers like Skullwinder that do make the format better. But alas, the Docksides exist, and those mistakes are pretty big ones that (…)
