Fact-checking is not censorship.

Refuting falsehoods is not censorship.
Stopping a lie from travelling halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on is not censorship.
But Zuckerberg's grovelling to Trump will sure as hell lead to censorship.

imo it's a legit scandal how much legacy social sites are suppressing link content

i think we all knew that they were doing it, but i didn't realize that news orgs & creators would get over an *order of magnitude* better engagement over here

Good morning Skywalkers,

Today we look at celebs who also published research. Naturally a large chunk of the attention these items receive is related to the fame of their authors.

Hence we will be accusing every single one of these stars of gaming their Altmetric Attention Score.

One of my favourite authors and columnists, George Monbiot, has created an interesting thread (pun intended) on why he chose BlueSky as his Twitter replacement. Those considering Threads for open discourse should first scrutinise its meddling with political content and suspensions of journalists.
3. I thought for a while that the best alternative would be Threads. But Meta’s deliberate downgrading of political content and suspension of journalists on Threads rules it out as a prime platform for people like me. theguardian.com/commentisfre....

Pharma companies are kicking off at the Biodiversity Convention COP due to the suggestion they should pay a 'tax' for capturing the genetic information from the sequencing of organisms (usually from Biodiversity hotspots). They currently are taking this profitable information for free.
There's a row taking place in the confines of the Biodiversity Convention COP (the lesser known sibling of the Climate COPs) where the drug companies are fighting hard to avoid having to pay for what they're using
