All of this to say, Elliott’s impact has largely been underrated across his career.

In the 4 years the Pies missed finals 14-17, they had a 61.36% record in the 54 games with him in the team and a 32.35% record in the 34 games he missed.

In 12 seasons where he’s played at least 1 senior game, Elliott has only ever had 1 year with a negative W-L record.

In that time, Collingwood’s had 5 seasons with a 50% or worse W-L record.

Of Collingwood’s 199+ gamers since 2000, only 3 players have a better winning % than Elliott:

Lumumba 64.82%
Maxwell 64.40%
Didak 63.53%

Since 1950, only the Richardson brothers (63% and 64%) have comparable records.

He has the second best winning % of any of the 15 Collingwood players to have debuted + played 100+ games since 2012 (62.06% behind Mason Cox’s 62.31% - Cox is another not getting the credit he deserves here).

A few more Jamie Elliott facts worth noting:

He has played 8 VFL games since joining the club in 2012, meaning he’s missed 99 games, or approx 4.5 seasons, to injury.

Would love to know how many 200 gamers have missed as many due to injury (or in general: cc @sirswampthing.bsky.social).

These shots are from the 2018 GF. While his teammates warmed up, Elliott was doing up his tie in a property room.

He’d only played 17 of the previous 70 games + had done his hammy 3-4 times that year alone.

Via a glance at AFL Tables, Elliott’s journey to 200 games is the longest of Collingwood’s 28 200 gamers to debut since 1950 (Lee, A.Collier + Kyne took longer b/w 1906-1950).

His first 50 games took only just over 2 seasons, but his next 50 took just over 5.
