VCARB is very messy and blobby, particularly on the aft end of the engine cover. It might follow the lines of the real car a little better but for now it's a tentative 4/10

Red Bull livery is a solid 6.5/10. 7/10 on a good day. Far from an alltimer, but it's different and a colour combo that's hard to go wrong with.

Also, since I still hate fun, manufacturing lead times in Formula 1 are such that production of the bodywork that was on the Audi F1 car yesterday was likely signed off late november/early december, so whatever ran on track yesterday is nowhere close to what'll run in Bahrain or Australia

the part people are going apeshit about is also inlet noise that the 2014-2025 engines already had, you just never hear it on TV because F1 TV broadcasts are produced the fuck to death and the mic placements are terrible

hi my name is lulu and i hate fun

speaks volumes to FOM's ability to market shit that people are going apeshit over an engine that's almost identical to last year's (at least the part that makes noise) sounding ''different''
January 9, 2026 at 11:11 PM
Now that there's been a 2026 car on track, quick reminder that these engines are, fundamentally, the same 1.6L V6 turbocharged engines as last year's and they are very unlikely to *sound* any different. People who claim they sound different are trying to convince themselves.

new toyota hypercar looks fantastic and is going to look even better getting completely squandered by toyota's dogshit driver strategy during LM24

Feels bad canceling my preorder for Battletech Aces at a local place but the slipping release dates just don't inspire confidence. I really hope CGL can find a way to do better by their European customers in 2026, but given who's currently ruining the US economy, I doubt it
January 5, 2026 at 3:31 PM
Perez's recent comments just really feel like a guy who's still bitter at the ex who dumped him. Grist for the mill of people who see Red Bull as F1's villains, unfortunately.

being a Battletech fan in Europe like "I love being punished for ordering locally"

For the F1 folks:

Really interesting interview with Helmut Marko from a Dutch source. ChatGPT translation but I've checked for accuracy and tone (I am a native speaker) and it's pretty accurate. He's VERY honest about Horner in this one.
Red Bull advisor Marko: 'Max would have won the title if Horner had been fired earlier'

Jack Doohan crashing at the same corner at Suzuka three days in a row is genuinely impressive consistency

If you really like watching meaningless overtakes happen all the time F1 2026 is a great racing product, but I think Formula E's shown that audiences will rapidly figure out that none of the action is all that meaningful

some thoughts on F1 2026 nobody asked for:

- a lot of people are bearish on RBPT because they're "new". RBPT lured a bunch of ex-Honda *and* big HPP names over when setting up RBPT. they're less "new" than Honda, who have had to essentially restart their engine programme from scratch, or Audi

wash isn't dry yet and he needs a bit of drybrush touch-up next time, but I painted a Loki Mk II in Clan Wolf-in-Exile Beta Galaxy yesterday.

bit of a try out for the scheme, not totally sold on the legs or soulblight grey to wash them yet, but I didn't mess up the canopy!

And remember: ifs and buts don't matter. You can't change a single event in time and expect the rest of history to play out the exact same way. What matters is the here and now, and right now Lando Norris is world champion
December 7, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Lando is a deserving winner, McLaren aren't. I don't think he'll care about that right now, though
December 7, 2025 at 2:37 PM
Signs of front graining throughout practice so it might be a two stopper yesterday. It's a bumpier road there than McLaren would probably like.

painted a Flashman in Comstar colours today. my Level II is coming along slowly but steadily

as for Tsunoda, it's easy to be lured by the siren song of his occasional flashes of pace, but it became clear those really were just flashes and he simply isn't capable of stringing it together on anything approaching a consistent basis a while ago. shame, but it is what it is

people really need to let go of the ''Red Bull should've hired Sainz'' stick

we've known for a while that camp Sainz and camp Verstappen didn't get along. if Sainz doesn't want to leave his dad at home, he's not getting into any team that Verstappen is driving for, simple as that, unfortunately

I'd much rather the sport makes a stink about this sort of TV direction than 10 combined seconds of WAGs during a race broadcast but the priorities are really, really fucked here
December 1, 2025 at 2:04 PM
re. Antonelli shitstorm: people obviously like ragging on Marko and RBR as they are F1's villains and all, but the TV direction deserves some shit here too. They knew what they were doing by playing GP's radio without showing a replay.

Anyways I was the only person wearing a Mercedes shirt in a Dutch family watch-along of yesterday's GP. I end up in this position pretty frequently.
