never said it did, all I said was this show represents a business decision that I'm not really excited about, which i think is a completely fair critique. if Starfleet Academy turns out okay then great, but as it stands, this is the face for the future of star trek and I'm not vibing with it

adult animated star trek is an immediate red flag for a lot of people, myself included, but when the show tried to do actual stuff with stakes and develop its comical characters as actual people it turned out to be the best show anyone could have asked for

the last two trek shows produced ended with five seasons, had more than two writers, and either had a large set they got a lot of milage out of, or animation they could easily produce. If there was a testing the waters scenario for a return to long form tv, we just witnessed it

of course not, the real reason is much worse because if a show reaches past a fifth season, SAG-AFTRA requires some kind of pay bump for the actors involved, so its cheaper to just build something new and ditch the old cast and crew altogether. the pie buffet model is an exploit for cheap labor

the owner of this restaurant told the kitchen to discontinue the key lime pie i loved from the menu despite the cooks love for it and decided this pie was better so I'm not really thrilled
