in a lower power format where you're just playing for fun with friends, I can see it working fine (mostly) pure, but the current best version on master duel is played with the fiendsmith and azamina packages to very consistently establish a 4-5 negate board turn 1

the deck itself is pretty fun (to me at least) but also relies heavily on supplemental engines to do it's game plan, which unfortunately gets very linear for the most part

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 will always be my premier recommendation just as one of the most well polished indie JRPG games I've ever played.

As far as starting games go, I usually recommend Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones or Fire Emblem: Awakening as entry points into the series. Do note that they are old games by this point, and you may have to emulate them to play them (especially in the case of Sacred Stones).

What's done is done. Nothing short of a miracle that has the odds of occurring as winning a lottery will change that. Things will likely get worse, though know that social media (and let's be real, traditional media too) will love to blow things out of proportion for the sake of engagement.
