I wish you didn't need a following to be heard, it's a nasty reality that people are so quick to discount others. The elderly? Invisible, most people talk about them as though they were another species. Same for the disabled. I hope this can change someday

Appreciation is important to everyone because we are all people with a sense of self, a desire for being recognized and valued. Wanting to be heard is completely natural. Wanting it more when silenced is just as natural.
I wish people wouldn't ask such questions as they suggest you shouldn't care
