I learned a valuable lesson. Properly log out of TSO instead of just letting the session time out
Apparently session time out doesn't delete the SPFLOG dataset, which is now max size
Annoyingly this now prevents me from logging in and deleting it myself because the main ISPF task abends upon login

Floating point math might be forever cursed but fixed point math has its own set of problems. While reviewing the results of a test after some development changes we noticed that the subtotal was 10% of the calculated total. Somewhere, somehow a decimal point got moved that really shouldn't have.

I reinstalled Gentoo after realizing that my problems with it were mostly self-inflicted. Honestly, the entire experience has been a lot of fun and I've come to learn that I *actually enjoy* resolving compile errors or dependency issues or whatever. Problem solving is fun, even when I caused them.

Union protest outside. Their inflatable display was great. It was a literal "Fat Cat" strangling a hard hat wearing construction worker with one hand and holding a green money bag in the other. Their noise machine and air horns are a little grating but I will always stand in solidarity with workers.

I'm so glad that the terminal emulator my work uses allows us to record and write custom macros. Having to manually cross check between an Excel spreadsheet, a generated report dataset, and a few DB2 Tables is a lot easier when I can shorten it to just a couple key presses.

I have learned the lesson the hard way, don't make a 301 redirect if it's not permanent and especially don't make the redirect to somewhere you don't own. 301 is usually cached indefinitely, to "undo" it I would've had to redirect back again. I can't do that because I had it set to my bsky profile..

Mozilla adding enabled-by-default AI features to Firefox is the final straw. GenAI is a cancer and having to opt out of AI everywhere is becoming mind numbing. AI has it's uses. It can be trained to assist as a specialized tool, but it should never be a default "feature" of anything. What a shitshow

I've been learning Rust with the Rust Book and the Rustlings course and I've honestly been having fun with it. The Rustlings course gives me that little bit of gratification my ADHD needs in-between sections of the book and the book teaches everything pretty well even for someone who's less familiar

Getting to telecommute 2 days a week is really nice. It may have to always be Monday and Friday per policy but it's still nice. Having to fill out a "Work Accomplishment Report" detailing what I did during the hours I TC'd is not nice. On days in the office, nobody cares what I did all day.

I wish to speak with whoever came up with those pre-recorded interviews. The ones where you record yourself answering prompts, but there's no actual interviewer there. I'm autistic, I can barely hold my own when I have someone's reactions and such to bounce off of. When there's nobody there I freeze

I don't *yet* consider myself a software "engineer". I have little to no proper background with CS fundamentals. It's like the difference between a chef and a cook, or an engineer vs a construction worker.
Labels are dumb, but I am actively trying to fill the knowledge gap by finally learning these
