i'm pretty sure that when i did it, i tried to handle the entire mech in the center tile with the boss so i didn't even have to think about the lit up tiles! also it occurred to me that my method might not work if you play on standard since it assumes your camera remains pointed at the boss while--

it's been a long time, but do you mean the 2nd boss mech where it gives you the 3 or 5 rotation? when my group did it, we looked at the rotation arrows on the bottom left or right of the mech indicator -- for 5, put opening on the same side as the arrow. for 3, put opening opposite arrow
