All well and good, but is Major Johnson going to order police to open a criminal invest. of these men who claimed to be ICE, but who wouldn’t show ID, a warrant, or respond to lawful questions from the Alderman?

With a criminal investigation I don’t see what incentive ICE has to stop this behavior.

There are. Just about any time ICE randomly grabs someone they commit simple assault if not aggravated assault.

Their attack of the apartment building—even if a gang was operating there—is at least aggravated assault.

I look forward to the post-T era war crimes trials. I think it was a mistake for Obama not to have prosecuted the Bush administration for war crimes; I don’t think it can be avoided after T.

I'm an attorney, and I was astounded at the decision. Granted, there are few people more like gods on Earth than federal district judges, but you don't see them get up on soapboxes like that very often.

That's at least a third degree assault under New York law, which doesn't exempt federal officers.

There's no way that ICE supervisor had an objectively reasonable law enforcement purpose for his actions.

The NYPD should open a criminal investigation of this incident.

If they're acting as if they have legal authority, but are not displaying badges or identification, it should be assumed they do NOT have authority, and the local police should intervene to arrest them or otherwise get them the hell out of there.
