Playing '80s space games on their original hardware carried the suggestion that, at the time, *you* were playing on a sci-fi device. The ubiquity of modern computing takes that away, but it's nice to get a sense of atmosphere from the UI. I liked it when they pretended to be holograms!

I enjoyed Robert Eggers' Nosferatu in the same way that I enjoyed the Castlevania series of videogames.
Images that define a genre, cultivated and sharply presented so that tropes appear at home in their new environment, for the maximum impact they can deliver there.

Playing the James Bond 007 Gameboy game and for a game from 1997 I'm surprised at how faithful it is to classic Bond movie movie representations of race. This is China.

Platform games are about the joys and aesthetic of movement. For this reason I'd rather play Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines than Astrobot. And I had a great time with Astrobot.
