I think I must have seen close to 40 different baby burrowing owls yesterday. Breeding season started late, but it sure made up for it with lots of healthy clutches! 🪶

This bird is legit famous. I mean this exact little dude. It’s a Prothonotary Warbler, aka Swamp Lemon. During the Biggest Week festival in Ohio it was a star, sitting mere feet from the boardwalk and putting on a show. (I saw it a few days before the festival.) Even I got a decent pic. 🪶

It was pure serendipity. I did not intend to take a #silhouette shot of the Hamerkop, but I simply ran out of light that evening. Still, it was the perfect bird for it.

Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) tonight, southwest of
Bloomington, IN. 🔭🧪

This stacks 34 x 8" (about 4.5 min total) on a crappy Nikon 55mm f/5.6 lens at ISO 1600. Some photoshop to clean up and accentuate the fall colors and increase contrast to see the *very* long tail.
