And in the meantime, that doesn't mean drawing won't be a struggle sometimes (or often), or that there won't be disappointments.

Making art is to be human. We are artmakers. That is what we do. And our human experience is full of joys and sorrows. So it follows our art will be too.

I also want to say our improvement is often hard to see, and slower than we would like.

Asking others how you're doing can keep you grounded in reality. Looking at your art from years ago can remind you of how far you've come.

I see progress with your drawings, and I think others do too.

So if it's just neutral and factual, you're less likely to reject them.

Doing this can disrupt the catastrophising going on in your brain, and put a roadblock in the spiral of self-defeat.

It takes practice. And good mental health is important for everything, including being an artist.
