ALL THE WATER IN THE WORLD by @eirencaffall.bsky.social was my favorite book this year. It’s a meditative novel that dwells on memories of the World That Was before disastrous climate change & contemplates how we carry what has been salvaged into the future. Beautifully written!

Chuck Wendig’s THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS was a wild ride! The novel is a creepy exploration of lifetime friendships and what we owe to one another, and was immersive in the tradition of the best Stephen King novels I read in my early teens.

Sally Mann is, amazingly, as great a writer as she is a photographer. ART WORK is a meditation on creativity and the work of life and art. Peppered with photos and bits of her letters, this was a quick but deep read.

THE THIRD RULE OF TIME TRAVEL by Philip Fracassi is a terrific sci-fi novel. Rather than look at the physics of time travel, it studies the emotional toll of revisiting your own past and the growing suspicion that you might not be just observing that past in spite of the rules.

SISTERS IN THE WIND by Angeline Boulley is an excellent extension of the Sugar Island series, focused on Lucy Smith, a young Ojibwe woman on the run from her past. The novel is a slow discovery of her story, as she tries to learn to trust.

#LibFaves25 - Day 4

LIVING IN THE PRESENT WITH JOHN PRINE by Tom Piazza is a shining star of a book, a brief account of a brief but deep friendship between the author and the singer-songwriter. This book made me miss JP all over again and sent me back to his quirky, beautiful albums.

KING SORROW by Joe Hill - College friends summon a dragon in a time of desperation. But they don’t realize that dragons don’t play fair. The novel follows the group over 30 years as the ramifications of their deal reverberate through their lives & friendships.

#LibFaves25 Day 2

BOG QUEEN by Anna North is a novel that moves back and forth between a modern discovery of a woman preserved in a bog in England and that woman’s life in the Iron Age.

It’s #LibFaves25, Day 1!

ATMOSPHERE by Taylor Jenkins Reid was beautiful and wrenching and then beautiful again. Perhaps the sweetest and best description of new love, straight or gay, I’ve ever read.

#ShowMeYourKnits Blue Week. The yarn was my souvenir from our September trip to Ireland. Townhouse Yarns Drury DK; Color: Oiche. The pattern is Slouchy Copy Cat Hat on Ravelry, mods by nireknit. A really easy, fun pattern that I knit at a bluegrass festival in Vermont.

Found on the break room table. This librarian is new, as evidenced by the fact that a jar of peanut butter is the oddest thing they’ve yet been given by a patron. Just you wait, Grasshopper!
