I've been in my new job for two weeks now and only just starting to figure out a schedule for my writing and such. But today, I relaxed by making cake. Orange bundt cake with an orange rum glaze. I only ate 1 piece, so I'm guessing from what my hubby & son ate, it's a winner.

I start a new full-time job tomorrow that's requiring me to completely adjust my sleeping schedule, so any writing I get done this month as I finish adjusting will be considered a win. #writinglifemontly #writing

Hubby and I took the bikes to Angel Island to ride the Perimeter Road. Very hilly, not everything was paved, so 5 miles took us over an hour, but it was an absolutely beautiful day for it. This is view of San Fran from the 1/2 point of the route. Wish I'd stopped to take more pictures, though.

I don't write them, but I'm not 100% against them, either. Depends on the story. Sometimes life is messy and feelings are confusing. If a writer is competent enough to tackle it honestly, I'll give it a go. That being said, most don't seem to want to do that. #writinglifemonthly #writing

Like a lot, but love only 1: seeing the other in moonlight, making the scene reverent even if talking about something else. Inside at a window. Outside in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't matter. For me it strips away distraction and lets them focus on what's important. #writinglifemonthly #writing

Decided to finally watch Kpop Demon Hunters tonight & was very pleasantly surprised since I don't listen to kpop and tend to get super stubborn about heavily hyped media. Oddly charming & I actually enjoyed the music. Of course, all the Buffy coding appeals to the Slayer-lover in me, too.

It's a product of its time and problematic in at least one uncomfortable way, but damn if "Random Harvest" with Ronald Colman and Greer Garson still doesn't make me cry. One of my favorite love stories ever. #classichollywood

I have never chosen to write to the market, much to my husband's dismay. Even when it means my sweet gay historical w/magical realism set in midwest US in the Great Depression barely sells. B/c it's about the story I want to tell more than anything else. #writinglifemonthly #writing

Favorite romance trope: gentle giant, hands down. Enemies to lovers would be second. I love that both force the characters to look past the superficial and dig deeper.

I like/write both. What happens is dictated by the story. Sometimes, that physical connection comes first. Sometimes, it builds from friendship or needs to get past other emotional blocks before a physical connection can happen. The characters decide that, not me. #writinglifemonthly #writing

I'm a planner who works with a living outline. I can't start without knowing all the beats, but I also know from experience that characters have minds of their own and outlines need to breathe and be allowed to change to accommodate those unexpected changes. #writinglifemontly #writing

My current story will be open door, but I've written both. It all depends on what the story is. Sometimes the door needs to be open because those scenes serve the story in a specific way. Sometimes, it's not necessary and might even detract.
