Writer, wanderer, wonderer, always curious to learn more. Knows a smattering about much, but not much about anything.

Worried about biodiversity loss. What's happening is one big horror story.
I thought the same!

I know the Regeneration trilogy which I found very moving but not the other series. That's quite a commitment!

That makes perfect sense!

I'll definitely go in uninformed!

I'm not sure I'm up to that atm - I need slightly gentler reads for now.

I read Middlemarch years ago & generally get on with Eliot - & I'm a massive Dickens fan. I've got David Copperfield on the reread atm to compare with Demon Copperhead. Funny what you say about Anna Karenina 😄

Hmm, I've never clicked with James as I do with Wharton, but it's been a while since I tried. Thanks fo the recommendation!

Ooo, I haven't & I was wondering where to go next - thank you!

Make it a Christmas treat!

Although I've read some Mantel novels I've not actually dared to start the Wolf Hall ones. I'm a bit scared of the brutality of those times 😬

Gaskell, Trollope & Thackeray are wonderful - I'm definitely a Victorian novel fan. War & Peace I never quite finished though I loved much of it. It was all the battles that lost me... same as with The Lord of the Rings 😄

I don't know those novels but I know what you mean about a series. So warm & comfortable like favourite old clothes, without the prickly awkwardnes of new books which need time to wear in. The Earthsea novels for me.

I haven't read that one, but I love Edith Wharton's novels.
December 3, 2025 at 7:37 AM
I love that one too! Isn't it fabulous to inhabit another world so completely & for such a long time it's actually a surprise - & rather disappointing - to find out you live here & now 😄

8. Anyway, please remember, amid all the noise about the prisons crisis, that it is caused not by rising crime or rising population. It is caused by rising demands from people who do not represent this country and do not have our interests at heart. Thank you. 8/8

My husband said the same last night. 'You got to wonder if any of those people lived in those houses 😄'

I was so pleased that finding these things had made him happy.
