Traces of the great Forest of Braydon which originally extended across North Wiltshire still inform the landscape. The Domesday Book of 1086 records that the manor of Lydiard included woodland 1 league long and half a league in breadth.

Good evening Blueskies. Still in Swindon. Went for an amble around town this evening and found Old Town, which is, apparently, the nice bit. It was nice, and quite old. There was a church (1851), designed by the chap who did St Pancras, The Albert Memorial and Wanstead Infant Orphan Asylum.
