Delete-nothing personal-archivist/lifelogger. I have 26+ years of digitized journals, and a terabyte of photos, videos, audio, fitness and health data. Not a company. Former ML engineer, now solo developer/home hobbyist.
Why do we chronicle our lives? Is it mortality? Or immortality?

30+ years of hoarding my “digital treasure”: photos, receipts, GPX tracks, dreams, even that MP3 I’ll never organize. Proof I existed? Or proof I spent way too much time proving I existed? The full story:

Just hit 25 million words in my digital journal.

Not looking for fanfare. Just wanted to quietly mark the milestone with like-minded people.

It started as a daily habit over two decades ago, and somehow… here we are. Grateful for the process and what it’s taught me.

If you’d told me 30 years ago that I’d one day be sitting atop a 25-million-word journal, I’d have rolled my eyes hard enough to sprain an optic nerve.

The journey wasn’t linear. It was more like a Rube Goldberg machine clicking into place a piece at a time.

I’ve been journaling continuously for over 26 years, and along the way, I’ve reflected deeply on this simple question: Why journal? I’ve accumulated thoughtful responses based on my experience and extensive analysis of my entries.
