peaked out at ~2.2gbps. I pay for 3 and considering that the 10G interface on the ONT is connected to a 2.5gbps port, I say I hit saturation point.

you know how many layer of abstraction have to work where I can get the compiler to tell me, not only what is wrong, but what I need to do to fix something? (and that thing is a framework that compiles to wasm and does javascript things, but better)

it's most likely a networkd bug. it does not seem like networkd does a full reinitialization of the interface when the link status changes.
there's a small chance setting ActivationPolicy=always-on fixes the issue
