She taught me more about kindness, resilience, and unconditional love than I could ever put into words.
 
We have a choice how we receive what comes to us.
 
That which you feel is going to break you is that which is here to shape you.

Sadie was pure love, joy, and mischief all wrapped into one. I remember in her school play she was supposed to pretend to go to sleep ... she fell asleep. Sadie's was obviously the best performance!
 
Sadie had a way of lighting up a room with her laughter.

I hid in plain sight.
 
This is my day: Inner Play Day. I work on the Inner Game. And today, I reflect and I pay tribute to my sister Sadie.

The words were ugly, brutal, cruel... providing more shame.
 
I felt shame for everything.
 
If it moved I felt shame.
 
I felt shame for being ashamed.
 
And so, I said nothing.

The only one in the room...
 
Being the only brown face.
 
Being the child with older parents.
 
Being female.
 
The one with the Downs Syndrome sister... though I can promise you they did not use those words back then.

Sadie's dead...
 
I was taken aback by my response: the guttural cry of 'No!'
 
And then, the wailing...
 
Where did it come from?
 
I don't recognise that 19-year-old version of Me, My Selves & I.
 
"We didn't know you had a sister!" Everyone said.
 
"She had Downs Syndrome!" I sobbed. ➡️

I signed up to the #DrMindyPelz 72-hour #waterfast. I'm half way through! And I did my 7-minute workout. Listen to your body and not what other people tell you to think or feel seems to be the best way forward. Mind you I did work out with my night mask on. #lyndasmith7minutesworkout #fastlikeagirl
